The Full Story
Ever since my second grade teacher told me I was "quite the storyteller," I was hooked on writing them. From that point on, I spent several years writing short stories, as well as poems, prose, and songs for my own enjoyment and use. I knew I wanted to be a writer, but to avoid a possible starving artist existence, I pursued another avenue, spending the first half of my life doing something I truly enjoy as well--taking care of people. I became a Licensed Practical Nurse, and my experiences in the field of nursing are both vast and varied. I worked in both acute care and long-term care settings, in a Gastroenterology practice (yes, stomach and guts), and even taught Medical Assistant students. I became certified in things like IV insertion, blood draws, CPR, and HIPAA.

It wasn't until one of the doctors I worked for asked if I would be interested in writing a newsletter for our medical center did I realize that while I have compassion for people, I have a passion for writing, and I wouldn't--and couldn't--let it lie. Ultimately, I traded in my stethoscope for a computer and began to write for several local and regional publications, eventually, going back to school as an adult student (yes, it can be done!) to pursue a degree in Communications/Journalism. After completing four years in three, I graduated from college with a BA degree (summa cum laude) in Communications/Journalism, with a minor in English Lit.
Now, in this second half of what I hope to be a very long life, I have enjoyed writing ad copy, course content, digital publications, print and e-newsletters, instructional scripts, marketing collaterals, and web content through various jobs. Still, it can't compare to the enjoyment I receive from writing fiction/non-fiction stories. Now, with a most supportive husband, four kids, three sons-in-law, four grandchildren (who help make life worth living!), I'm pursuing yet another new avenue and finishing those novels I once began. I am now living my dream to write and publish my full-length novels, (of which I have several in the works), and I have no intention of waking from this dream any time soon.
